Autocue Unveils HD Monitors and Video Servers at Digital Video Expo
September 2, 2010

Autocue has introduced four new Grade 2 broadcast monitors in their lineup, competitively priced and designed for both production and postproduction environments. The first sizes available will be the 24" and 42" monitors with the 17" and 32" arriving in late 2010.

Also new are Autocue’s first three standalone, Linux-based video servers. The servers feature up to four bi-directional HD/ SD channels for simultaneous record and playout, and up to 12TB of storage.

The introduction of these new products forms part of a new strategy by Autocue to extend its reach within the broadcast sector. The products themselves build on Autocue’s extensive broadcast experience, for the first time providing broadcasters with monitors and servers of the high quality and affordability that they have come to expect from Autocue’s existing range of prompting and newsroom solutions.

As CEO, Frank Hyman explains, “These new product areas are a natural evolution for the company and demonstrate the true breadth of our broadcast knowledge, design and development capability.”

With regard to the new broadcast monitors, Hyman said, “We have a great deal of expertise in the design and manufacture of specialist prompter monitors, so it makes sense for us to take the next step to address other areas of broadcast display technology. “

Turning his attention to the new video servers, Hyman continues, “Autocue has been selling newsroom, automation and media management products to top-end broadcasters for more than two decades. In response to demand for a more affordable solution, we developed an end-to-end production system including an own brand video server. This was received so well that we decided to develop a video server that could be used standalone, as part of any production system.”

Autocue and QTV (in the U.S.) have been serving the broadcast industry since the 1950s. They are the only company to offer the television industry a single solution for newsroom, scripting, automation, media management, video servers, broadcast monitors and teleprompters. Autocue is known worldwide for its service and dependability, serving such prestigious clients as the BBC, Bloomberg, NBC and CNN. Autocue’s prompting solutions are compatible with all newsroom systems on the market and are used all over the world by broadcasters, production professionals, government facilities and corporate producers.
